🎨 How to color it

Color the wagon slats honey brown, the fir rows deep pine green, the distant barn cranberry red, and the farmhouse warm cream. Use sharp colored pencils for the many needles and wagon spokes, then switch to broad, pale blue strokes for the snowy road. Add a secret gold glow in one wagon plank, as if the handmade cart is carrying a Christmas mystery.

The story behind this coloring page

Why Tree Wagons Creak Twice — By the frozen ruts, Bram rubbed pine sap from his fingers and tightened the last spoke of the wagon he had built himself. Read the full story →

By the frozen ruts, Bram rubbed pine sap from his fingers and tightened the last spoke of the wagon he had built himself. He wanted it to carry the first Christmas fir before breakfast, but one wheel kept rolling with a dull thud instead of a proud wooden song.

A misty breath moved between the dark rows. Out stepped a fox with snow on its whiskers and a silver bell caught in its fur. “Your wagon has no hello,” the fox said. Its voice sounded like twigs tapping a window. Bram, shivering in the sharp pine smell, carved two tiny notches inside the axle and tied the bell thread between them with his own stiff hands.

When he pulled, the wagon answered creak-creak, bright as a secret under snow. The fox vanished, but every tree seemed to lean closer. Ever since, Christmas tree wagons creak twice: once for the maker’s hands, and once for the hidden hello. Next time you spot that empty wagon by the fir rows, can you hear both creaks in the frozen ruts?
