🎨 How to color it

Color the scroll parchment a creamy ivory, the peppermint border red and white, the holly leaves bright green, and the quill feather sky blue. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny snowflakes, stars, candy swirls, and the small gift boxes so the details stay crisp. Try making the big words red with green shadows, then add a gold glow around the blank writing lines.

Up in the wrapping loft, where paper rolls went whoosh and ribbon wheels clicked, Nora made one tiny list every evening. She had set herself a challenge: write straighter lines than yesterday, cut neater corners, and draw a peppermint frame without smudging the ink. On Christmas Eve, her quill scratched skritch-skritch across her biggest scroll yet—until one candy swirl at the edge gave a sudden pop!

Because of that, Nora jumped and blobbed ink on the first blank line. Because of THAT, the holly leaves she had drawn began to rustle, fanning the blot into a shiny black star. “Hold still, please!” Nora laughed, racing her quill along the border. She added names, ages, and kind deeds by hand, each line steadier than the last. At last the peppermint frame clicked into place like a candy gate. If you spot the biggest swirl, it is still guarding Nora’s skritch-skritch Christmas Eve list.
