Each evening, Bela rubbed the moon-bubbles until they shone silver-blue. Swish, wipe, sparkle; swish, wipe, sparkle. She wanted every bubble ready before the sleepy crabs rang their pebble bells.
One evening, a round, prickly stranger drifted into the bubble garden and bumped the biggest bubble with a soft bonk. Because of that, the bubble hummed like a little drum. Because of THAT, all the smaller bubbles began humming too, and Bela’s hands felt tingly and brave. “Hello,” she whispered, and opened her arms slowly.
The pufferfish puffed even rounder, then floated close as a warm lantern. Bela held him gently, careful of every tiny prickle, while the coral below made a quiet pop-pop-pop. Next time you see her smile, can you spot the friend who turned swish, wipe, sparkle into a hug?
