🎨 How to color it

Color her dress deep plum, the cape lining ruby red, the pumpkin pail bright orange, and the crescent moon pale butter yellow. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny stars, skirt swirls, hair bows, and bat shapes, then switch to smooth marker fills for her cape and long ponytails. Try a midnight-blue-to-violet glow behind the bare branches so her cheerful face and pumpkin pail feel extra bright.

Under the moon orchard’s crooked branches, Elara tapped one boot on the silver grass and lifted her pumpkin pail. She had set herself a small challenge: one hundred twirls before the last bat crossed the moon. Each spin made her cape sigh, her skirt bells whisper, and the cold air smell faintly of apples and candle wax. “Ninety-one,” she breathed, dizzy with wonder.

The stars around her did not stay still. They slid into curls of wind, winked beside her bows, and glittered on the hem of her dress as if they wanted to be counted too. Elara slowed at ninety-nine, saving the final spin like the last sip of cider.

Then a tiny voice above her squeaked, “Our turn!” The bats had been counting backward from the branches, and when Elara spun one hundred, they burst into a soft black circle around her, carrying sparks of moonlight on their wings. Her pail brimmed over, not with candy, but with glow enough for every window in the orchard. Next time you see the little stars curling near her boots, can you tell which ones she shared first?
