🎨 How to color it

Give the big whale a soft sky blue, the two jellyfish pale lavender, the scallop shells peach and coral pink, and the crab a bright tangerine. Use sharp colored pencils for the striped shells, curling tentacles, and tiny bubble circles, then switch to light side-strokes for the long wavy current bands. Try making each current a different blue-green shade so the whale looks like it has wandered into a mischievous underwater racetrack.

The story behind this coloring page

Every day, Zeffa hummed through the coral lanes, counting bubbles before breakfast: one pop, two pop, three pop, gulp. She wanted a game that would make the whole reef peek around corners, so she invented the Current-Cheating Cup. The rule was simple: pick a wavy water-road, ride it with your eyes squeezed shut, and guess where you would pop out.

At first, the scallops clapped their shells, the jellyfish bobbed like sleepy lamps, and a tiny crab blew the starting bubble. Then Zeffa chose the curliest current and shouted, “No peeking, no squeaking!” The current wriggled under her belly, smelled of salty kelp, and sneaked sideways. Because of that, three shells spun after her like dinner plates. Because of THAT, a starfish judge drifted off his judging rock, laughing so hard his points got tangled.

Finally, Zeffa opened one eye and saw everyone circling the same bubbly loop. She flicked her tail, making one grand swish that pushed the runaway current into a gentle spiral. The racers tumbled out, dizzy and delighted, and named her champion of a game nobody could win twice. Next time you spot those wavy lanes, can you guess which one still cheats: one pop, two pop, three pop, gulp?
