🎨 How to color it

Layer the diplodocus in moss green and deep teal, make the belly medallion golden yellow, and color the lotus petals coral with lavender cloud swirls. Use sharp pencils and work in small sections, since the neck scales, tail leaves, and circular belly rings have many tight spaces. Try shading the long tail from dark green at the base to pale mint at the curled tip, like a mischievous ribbon wrapping the whole design.

The story behind this coloring page

Every day, Orrin paced the mandala garden at noon, nose over fern, tail sweeping the dust into tidy circles while the cicadas buzzed like tiny rattles. He wanted the whole valley to play his new game, Roundabout, but the rules were still inside his grin: tag the shadow, not the dinosaur.

Until one day his tail flicked too hard and drew a spiral so perfect even the clouds seemed to lean down and peek. Because of that, a beetle chased its own shadow, because of that, three herons tried to tag the beetle’s shadow and bonked beaks with a papery clack, and because of THAT, Orrin laughed so deeply the lotus leaves shivered.

“Your turn,” he called, and stepped aside. By sunset, everyone had added a loop, a leaf, a ridiculous shortcut. Joy had grown too large for one long neck, so Orrin shared the dust, the shadows, and his enormous roundabout.
