🎨 How to color it

Layer burnt orange and deep amber through the tiger’s striped face, use jade and fern green for the bamboo and leaves, and add hibiscus pink to the small corner flowers. Because the tiger’s cheeks, ears, and forehead hold many narrow mandala shapes, color with sharp pencils and move from the center of each section outward. For a lively twist, keep the circular bamboo ring cooler than the tiger so the warm eyes and muzzle seem to glow from inside the jungle.

Every evening, Vesper pinned one plain brass button to the velvet jungle curtain and tapped it twice, the cue for leaves to hush, frogs to quit heckling, and the tiger lilies to face front. The conservatory smelled of wet bamboo and warm dust; even the painted vines behaved—until one day the button answered with a soft, ridiculous roar.

Because of that, the curtain billowed into stripes, and the moth orchestra dropped three notes in surprise. Because of THAT, the hidden tiger in the pattern opened one bright eye, then another, and sneezed pollen over the front row. “Oh, absolutely not,” Vesper whispered, grinning.

Until finally, she unpinned the button and rolled it down the aisle like a tiny sun. It clattered, roared, and made every leaf, lily, moth, and snickering fern clap along, too full of joy to stay quiet. At dusk, Vesper tapped the brass button twice, and the whole jungle roared back.
