Every day, Mateo taped paper rings to a shoebox float and practiced his parade shout: “Boom-a-zoom!” The party room smelled like glue sticks and lemon cupcakes, and his fingers were sticky with tape. He wanted one surprise he had made himself.
Until one day, the shoebox rattled. Mateo peeked under the lumpy bow, where nobody ever looked, and found a tiny puff-roll. Because of that, he tucked it into his paper horn. Because of THAT, the horn sneezed—POOF!—and balloons bobbed up, stars spun, and confetti jumped like popcorn.
Finally, Mateo tied his homemade bow tighter, lifted the horn, and led the fastest little room parade ever. Next time you see the party horn between the balloons, can you spot the surprise that made him shout, “Boom-a-zoom!”?
