🎨 How to color it

Color the teapot house a creamy butter yellow, the sleeping mouse a soft warm gray, the polka-dot blanket coral and white, and the garden flowers violet and daisy yellow. Use sharp pencils for the tiny books, window stars, clock face, and blanket dots, then switch to smooth layered strokes on the teapot’s broad curved body. Try a pale blue-to-lavender evening glow through the open window so the cozy bed feels warm against the adventurous outside.

The story behind this coloring page

The Teaspoon Nobody Counted — Before the kettle-birds shouted morning, Zadie shot down the mint path with a dented teaspoon tied to her pack, its handle tapping tin-tin-tin against her shell buttons. Read the full story →

Before the kettle-birds shouted morning, Zadie shot down the mint path with a dented teaspoon tied to her pack, its handle tapping tin-tin-tin against her shell buttons. She skimmed past clover stalls, ducked under wet fern fronds, and left a pinch of salt in the baker’s blue jar, a dry match by the snail lamp, three fennel seeds on the nurse’s sill. No one saw; the village still smelled of rain and black tea.

At the round teapot house, she climbed the spout, breath bright in the cold, and slipped the last sugar crystal beside the tiny alarm clock. The spoon flashed. Every dent was not damage but a mark: one for each door, each need noticed before it became a need. In the window glass, starlight turned the bowl of the spoon into a small moon.

Zadie tucked herself beneath the dotted quilt just as the first bird began its brass-note call. Outside, shutters opened to salt, match, seeds, sugar; inside, her teaspoon rested quiet on the chair, still holding the sound of tin-tin-tin.
