🎨 How to color it

Layer turquoise and indigo through the owl’s leaf-shaped feathers, use marigold yellow for the flower eyes, and make the crescent moons a soft silver. Because the wings, chest, and branch are packed with tiny petals, dots, and veins, use sharp colored pencils and color each mirrored section before moving outward. Try a midnight-blue wash behind the stars while leaving the little clouds pale, so the owl’s bright eyes feel newly lit.

Every night, Aranza counted the orchard’s small gladnesses: one berry shine, two leaf whispers, three cool stars caught in her carved feathers. She kept them tucked beneath her wings, where they chimed softly like glass beads, because the branch was quiet and the moon seemed content to watch.

Until one night, a white moth landed between her talons carrying a crescent of light on its back. It did not speak. It simply opened its wings, and the branch smelled of orange peel and rain. Because of that, Aranza lifted one feather. Because of that, the hidden chimes spilled out, ringing through leaves, clouds, roots, and sleeping nests.

At last, the orchard answered: every twig held a spark, every star leaned closer, and the moth rose into the dark with room for more. Aranza kept only one berry shine, then opened both wings to the night’s cool stars caught in her feathers.
