🎨 How to color it

Color the left cake pop lemon yellow with pink icing, the center one sky blue with white drips and a golden candle flame, and the right one chocolate brown with mint icing stripes. Use chunky crayons or markers for the big round cake pops, then help your child tap in the tiny stars, sprinkles, and confetti dots afterward. Try making the bunting flags alternate red and purple so the candle in the middle feels like the secret party signal.

Behind the candy stands, where sugar smelled warm and popcorn went pop-pop, Milo guarded three cake pops on tall sticks. He wanted the tallest candle before the birthday song began. The candle box sat across Candy-Stand Alley, past the rustly bunting that snapped in the breeze. Milo swallowed. “Just there and back,” he whispered, and stepped out from his cozy paper cup.

Halfway across, his shoe stuck in a puddle of spilled syrup. Schloop! He left one sprinkle behind to tug himself free. At the candle box, there was no candle—only a loose knot in the bunting. Milo poked it, and out slid a striped candle with a tiny note: FOR THE BRAVE HELPER WHO COMES LOOKING. He hurried back, a little sticky and taller inside. When the flame winked above the middle cake pop, the flags seemed to keep his secret; can you spot the candle signal under the bunting?
