🎨 How to color it

Give the eagle a snowy white head, chestnut-brown wings, a golden yellow beak and talons, and fresh green leaves on the branch. Use chunky crayons for the eagle’s big wing and body shapes, and don’t worry if little hands color over the feather lines. Try making the clouds pale blue and the tree trunks warm tan so the proud eagle stands out in the forest.

Why Eagles Keep Branches — Psst—Dax had a secret job. He wanted to make one sitting stick all by himself, snap-snap, tug-tug, with bark that smelled like rain. Read the full story →

Psst—Dax had a secret job. He wanted to make one sitting stick all by himself, snap-snap, tug-tug, with bark that smelled like rain.

A big twig wobbled. Dax pressed it with his feet. “Stay, please!” he whispered. The twig held him up. His chest puffed. His claws curled tight.

Ever since that day, eagles keep strong branches under their toes, because Dax made the first proud perch by hand. Can you spot the leafy stick that went snap-snap?
