🎨 How to color it

Color the eagle’s head bright white, its body and wings chestnut brown, the cloud soft sky blue, and the mountain peaks cool gray. Use chunky crayons or markers to fill the big wing feathers one by one, and don’t worry if little hands hop over the lines. For a secret high-mountain look, add pale lavender shadows on just one side of each rocky peak.

High above the twin peaks, Eldon tapped one claw, then the other, on cold stone. He had invented a game: slip under a cloud without waking it. The cloud smelled like rain and wool, and it made a soft shhh as it floated by.

Eldon ducked beneath it, wings wide. A tiny voice whispered, “Don’t bump the buttons.” Buttons? He peered into the mist and found round cloud knots hanging along the bottom. Curious, he brushed one with a feather. Pop! A neat bump puffed out below.

He brushed another, then another, until the whole cloud had a row of soft scoops. Ever since, mountain clouds keep scalloped bottoms, and next time you see one, maybe Eldon is still playing his quiet cloud-slip game.
