🎨 How to color it

Layer the eagle in burnished gold and chestnut brown, give the curling vines a deep sage green, and tint the bell-shaped flowers pale lavender. Use sharp colored pencils for the feather scrollwork, filling the larger wing panels first and then tracing the narrow spirals with a lighter hand. For extra movement, blend a cool blue-to-mist gray wash through the clouds so the warm eagle seems to cut across the sky.

The story behind this coloring page

Thalen’s Wind-Ring Dare — Every day, Thalen skimmed the cloud garden where silver bellflowers chimed in the high air, daring himself to circle each vine-scroll without brushing a petal. Read the full story →

Every day, Thalen skimmed the cloud garden where silver bellflowers chimed in the high air, daring himself to circle each vine-scroll without brushing a petal. He had just named the game Wind-Ring when a gust tore one blossom loose and sent it spinning beyond the safe white banks. For one breath, his talons tucked tight; no one had flown past the outer curls before.

Because of that, he chased the flower into the open blue, where the wind smelled of rain and cold stone. Because of that, the loose blossom rang once, sharp as a tiny bell, and every hidden current around him showed itself in spirals. “Again,” Thalen whispered, not loudly, but enough. He dipped through the first ring, then the next, until the runaway flower settled back among its swaying sisters, and the cloud garden kept chiming his new dare.
