Up in the hushy sky, Sorrel hugged a tiny glow-pebble under one wing. It was warm as toast and bright as a blink. Sorrel wanted to keep it close. The clouds below went puff, puff, gray.
“Here, little light,” Sorrel whispered. She opened both wings wide. The pebble shone on her feathers, then slipped into the moon, soft and round and yellow. The clouds giggled white again.
