🎨 How to color it

Color the elephant soft gray, the peanuts sandy tan, and the path pale yellow with bright green grass on both sides. Use chunky crayons for the elephant’s big ears and body, and don’t worry if little hands color over the bold lines. Add one pink blush spot on each smiling cheek to make the hidden peanut moment feel extra sweet.

Under the hush-hush trees, Hemu picked up one peanut. He wanted a snack for himself, crunch-crunch, but the path smelled warm and sleepy.

Then a tiny squeak came from the shell. “Please?” Inside was a baby field mouse, curled like a bean. Hemu set all his peanuts down, one by one, so the mouse family could nibble in the moonlight.

Nobody clapped. Nobody saw. Ever since, peanuts wait in little piles for whoever is hungry. Next time you see Hemu’s peanut, listen for that soft please under the hush-hush trees.
