🎨 How to color it

Color the duck sunny yellow, the sailor cap crisp white with a navy-blue anchor, and the curling waves bright ocean blue. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the duck’s round belly and big waves, and don’t worry if little hands color over the thick lines. Try making the anchor necklace shiny silver or gold so it pops against the duck’s chest.

Every morning, Tobin waddled to the harbor mouth and listened: hush, boom, swish. He wanted to invent a game where every wave earned a name before it curled away. He named tiny ones Peep, tall ones Tumble, and foamy ones Fizz.

Until one day, a round, quiet swell rose with no crash at all. Because of that, Tobin held his breath. Because of THAT, the gulls stopped calling, and even his anchor charm felt cool and heavy on his chest. Finally he whispered, “Hello, Brave.” The wave lifted him just one inch, soft as a blanket, then set him down laughing. If you find the biggest curl around Tobin, maybe it still remembers its first name.
