In the tickly grass of Cloverbell Meadow, Pippa pressed mud onto leaf circles and stuck them to her long neck. Plip, plop, pat! She had made a brand-new game called Spot Hop: anyone who tapped a spot had to hop that many times. Her ears wiggled with pride as the warm mud dried like cookies in the sun. “I made the rules and the spots!” she sang.
Soon the beetles hopped two times, the finches hopped five, and Pippa hopped so hard her little tail bounced. Then a real cloud drifted low beside her and puffed itself into a round, lumpy spot. Pippa blinked. The sky wanted a turn! She tapped the cloud very gently, and everyone hopped once in a soft, silly circle.
