🎨 How to color it

Color the jack-o’-lantern bright pumpkin orange, the bat soft charcoal gray, the crescent moon pale yellow, and the maple and oak leaves red, gold, and brown. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the pumpkin’s big curved sections, then save the leaf veins and tiny berries for the pointy end of a crayon. Try making the pumpkin’s carved eyes and grin glow yellow, with a little orange around the edges like candlelight.

The story behind this coloring page

Under the first cool moon, Nico rolled his jack-o’-lantern to the garden path every evening and counted leaf piles with his boots: crunch-one, crunch-two, crunch-three. He wanted to invent a game no one had played before Halloween. One windy night, the candle blew out, and the pumpkin’s grin went dark. Nico slapped his pockets. No matches, only three acorns and a wobbly idea. “Moon-hop!” he whispered.

Because of that, he made rules fast: hop from leaf to leaf, tap three berries, and chase the moon’s shine back into the pumpkin. Because of THAT, the path led under a low arch where a tiny bat zipped out—flit-flit! Nico’s knees knocked, but he ducked once, then hopped through. At the last leaf, moonlight slid into the carved smile. The grin glowed again, and if you can spot the bat above the pumpkin, you know where Nico first played crunch-one, crunch-two, crunch-three.
