In the hush of Hill Meadow, Pippa carried a tiny brown seed in her pocket. It had been tucked inside her birthday bun, warm and sweet with honey, and she wanted everyone to feel that same happy bite.
She pressed the seed into soft dirt near the little flowers. Rain tapped tap-tap, the wind hummed low, and the seed stretched up into a tall sunflower. When the sun peeked from a cloud, the flower opened a round, gentle smile.
