🎨 How to color it

Layer the stag’s face in warm chestnut, the oak leaves in moss and olive greens, the pine sprigs in deep forest green, and the small berries in cranberry red. Use sharp pencils and color from the central muzzle outward, saving the thin pine needles and antler scrollwork for slow, controlled strokes. For a crafted woodland glow, shade the antlers from pale tan at the base to burnished gold at the tips while keeping the background untouched.

Every evening, Liora swept curls of cedar from her bench and carved one more leaf into the stag mask meant for the solstice hall. She wanted the antlers to look hand-made, not perfect—something with breath in it. Until one day, a real stag stepped from the blue dusk, its crown tangled with pine scent, oak shadows, and bead-bright winter berries.

Because of that, Liora put down her ruler. Because of that, her knife began to follow the small hesitations in her wrist: a fern-nick here, a spiral there, a berry round as a held breath. “Stay,” she whispered, though the stag had already vanished into the snow-bright trees.

Until finally, she lifted the mask and saw no copy of the forest, but her own patient making—cedar, blade, and wonder joined. That night, beneath the solstice lamps, everyone admired the antlers Liora made.
