🎨 How to color it

Layer the strawberries in carmine and deep rose, the serrated leaves in sap green, and the open blossoms in soft ivory with golden centers. Use sharp pencils for the leaf veins, seed dimples, and flower stamens, working from the outer leaf edges toward the central stems. Try a pale blue-gray wash in the open spaces so the red berries and ivory flowers feel lifted from the vine.

Before sunrise, Aster tucked one ripe breath beneath her green crown and set herself a private task: carry that sweetness past the last curling tendril before the bees woke. The trellis thicket was cool with dew, each drop bright as a pinhead, and the dark leaves brushed her sides with a soft rasp. Halfway out, a breeze slipped through the stems and took one white petal from her favorite blossom. She almost turned back to count what was missing.

Instead, she let the scent go. It traveled lightly, over buds still closed tight, over pale flowers holding their yellow dust, over small berries hard as beads. A bee found it first, then another; their humming gathered like warm thread. When Aster returned, the petal was gone, but every flower along the thicket trembled with company, and the sweetness she had saved was no longer small enough to keep beneath one green crown.
