Under the moon-supper shelf, Lumi pressed both leafy hands against the soft cream hill. It was slowly sinking into the berries with a hushy plop, plop. Lumi wanted it to stand tall before the night spoon arrived. A cold silver smell slid through the air. Then a tiny sugar comet landed on the spoon and whispered, “Wait for the third twinkle.”
Lumi did not poke. She did not pat. She counted the stars while the bowl felt cool against her feet. One twinkle. Two twinkles. On the third, the comet spun around the cream, leaving a sweet spiral that held the whole hill up. Ever since then, whipped cream keeps a curl on top when someone gives it time. Next time you see the spoon in the bowl, can you find where the comet waited?
