🎨 How to color it

Color the lifeguard tower sandy tan, the star flag bright red and white, the surfboard turquoise, and the lifebuoy orange. Use sharp colored pencils for the tower rails, ladder rungs, flagpole, and little footprints so the narrow shapes stay crisp. Try a golden sun with pale blue shadows under the clouds, then echo the turquoise surfboard with a few blue-green streaks in the waves.

Each morning, before the gulls finished their first racket, Dash climbed the salt-rough ladder and marked the safest swimming stripes in his notebook. He wanted one perfect week with no missed currents, no mixed-up flags, and no surprises except the warm slap of wind on his cheeks.

Then something thumped under the tower: a little silver drone on sand-skids, buzzing like an angry bee in a shell. “Wrong beach?” Dash called. The drone blinked twice and spat out a wet card: REEF RACE MISSING TURN MARKER. Because of that, Dash spotted racers far out, circling in the wrong blue water. Because of THAT, the tide began tugging them toward the choppy rocks beyond the swim line.

Dash grabbed the star flag, tied his orange whistle to it, and swung it in a wild side-to-side flash from the platform. The drone copied the pattern with sparks, the surfers saw, and the whole race bent safely home in a spray of silver. When the beach cheered, Dash felt the tower hum under his feet like it knew his name. Next time you notice the footprints below, can you tell which ones belong to Dash after the gulls finished their first racket?
