🎨 How to color it

Layer the central treble clef in deep teal and antique gold, make the piano keys crisp ivory and black, and give the curtains a rich burgundy with brass chandeliers. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny drums, guitars, scrollwork, and dotted rays, turning the page as you follow each circular band. For a theatrical glow, shade the rays behind the mandala from pale lemon near the clef to smoky violet at the curtains.

Before the first rehearsal, Veda stood in the empty theater, pencil smelling of cedar, and tried to draw the plain mark that would tell every instrument where to begin. Her hand trembled at the tall white page. From the chandelier drifted a silver moth, soft as breath, and settled on the wet ink; when Veda whispered, “Please don’t ruin it,” the moth walked a slow spiral, then climbed upward like a note finding courage. Veda traced its path. The mark held: a curl to gather fear, a rise to release it. Ever since, treble clefs curl that way before the first rehearsal.
