🎨 How to color it

Color the firefighter’s coat bright yellow, the helmet cherry red, Engine No. 1 glossy red, and the hydrant silver with blue caps. Use chunky crayons or markers for the big coat, truck, and brick doorway, and don’t worry if little hands cross the lines. Try making the station bricks two soft shades of tan so the red engine and waving firefighter pop forward.

Every day, Rico polished the brass bell rope at Station No. 1 and waited for the noon clang. He wanted a real job on bell-check day, not just broom duty. The firehouse smelled like rubber boots and lemon soap, and the engine blinked in the sun.

Until one day, a shaggy parade goat trotted in wearing a jingling sash and chewing the alarm list. “Hey, button-nibbler!” Rico shouted. Because of that, the goat bounced onto the hose reel. Because of THAT, the hose rolled, thump-thump-thump, right toward the open bay.

Rico grabbed the nozzle, planted his boots, and called, “Wheel stop!” The hose bumped his knees and stopped. The captain laughed, then handed Rico the bell rope. CLANG! Next time you spot his big wave by the hose reel, you’ll know Rico is exactly where he belongs.
