🎨 How to color it

Color the officer’s uniform navy blue, the badge and cap shield golden yellow, the patrol car bright white with blue doors, and the station roof light gray. Use chunky crayons or broad markers for the large uniform, car panels, and sidewalk, then save a sharper pencil for the tiny radio, belt buckle, and badge points. Try making the car’s roof light red on one side and blue on the other, like it is ready to blink through town.

The story behind this coloring page

The First Friendly Wave — Before the morning whistle, a small challenge waited in Jonah’s pocket: wave at every patrol car that rolled past the station block. Read the full story →

Before the morning whistle, a small challenge waited in Jonah’s pocket: wave at every patrol car that rolled past the station block. The air smelled like warm pavement and cut grass. The first car purred by, slow as a cat, and Jonah’s fingers stayed curled. “Just one wave,” he whispered.

Then the radio on Officer Bell’s belt crackled, and the patrol car stopped with a soft squeak. Officer Bell lifted his hand first, not big, not fancy, just hello. Jonah’s hand popped up by itself. Across the street, a baker waved floury fingers. A mail carrier waved two envelopes. The whole block answered.

So here’s the secret: ever since that small brave wave, officers in this town wave first when they pass the station. Next time you spot that raised hand, you’ll know where the custom began.
