🎨 How to color it

Color the parade wagon bunting in cherry red, navy blue, and bright white, with golden yellow star balloons and leafy green trees behind the houses. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny stars, flag stripes, wheel spokes, and the letters on the parade sign so the small details stay crisp. Try a pale blue sky behind the clouds and let a few pieces of confetti echo the same red, blue, and gold from the float.

Between the elm shade and the hot, tarry street, Luca pinched a faded blue ribbon in his pocket. Nobody knew it came from his first tiny bike parade, except maybe the ribbon itself. He wanted to tie it to the big parade wagon before the wheels began to creak, but the front sign sagged crooked as a tired smile.

“Hold still, old wagon,” Luca whispered. He stepped off the cool curb, sneakers sticking slightly, and crawled under the wooden rail with the ribbon clenched in his teeth. Confetti scratched his elbows. A balloon string snapped loose and brushed his ear like a secret. He had to use the ribbon to fasten the sign, not decorate his favorite corner.

The wagon rolled out straight, flags flapping and star balloons bobbing above the roofs. Luca’s pocket felt empty, but the sign didn’t wobble once. If you spot the ribbon tucked under the parade board, keep its secret: some small things wait patiently to hold the whole celebration together.
