Along the ferny track, Pip carried one round mud-button. Plop, plop went his paws. He put it by a pebble and waited. The grass smelled wet and green.
A beetle came tick-tick-tick. Pip grinned. “Not yet,” he whispered.
Then the beetle climbed on the button, spun it like a tiny drum, and made a pop-pop song. Pip’s big paw thumped happy. The plain button was a beetle bandstand! Next time you see the small paw prints, can you hear Pip waiting: plop, plop?
