🎨 How to color it

Color the train a sleek navy blue, the station roof a warm steel gray, the big clock face ivory, and the passengers’ clothes in small bright accents. Use sharp colored pencils for the many window frames, roof beams, and clock numerals, working from the largest train panels down to the tiny details. Try a pale sunrise gradient behind the platform so the open train doors feel ready for a special first departure.

Every evening, Tessa lined up the paper timetables beneath the round station clock, smoothing each crease while the last train sighed warm metal and rain-dust onto Platform Eight. She liked the hush after announcements, when footsteps thinned and the benches held only moonlight. Until one day, a loose bench slat clicked under her elbow and slid aside with a soft wooden gasp.

Inside was not a lost ticket, but a folded map inked with silver lines. Because of that, Tessa followed the lines past the destination board, the lamp post, and the open train doors, tapping each marked spot in order. Because of that, the platform began to answer: roof beams hummed low, wheels rang like bowls, and the clock gave twelve tiny chimes though it was only six.

At last Tessa opened every train door and called, “Listen!” Travelers stopped with suitcases in hand as the whole station shivered into music too bright to keep. Next time you see the round clock above Platform Eight, can you find where the silver song might have been hiding?
