🎨 How to color it

Color the strawberries ruby red, the chocolate dips creamy white and milk chocolate brown, the tiny hearts bubblegum pink, and the bowl a soft sky blue. Use sharp colored pencils for the seed ovals and thin drizzle lines, then switch to a marker or crayon for the wide bowl curves. Try making each strawberry’s icing pattern different—one with pink-to-white stripes, one with dark chocolate shadows, and one with a glossy caramel drip over the rim.

At the berry quay, where syrup boats knocked clink-clink against sugar-stone steps, Vesper set herself a daring rule: she would count every chocolate drip in the festival bowl before taking one bite. The air smelled like warm cocoa and crushed strawberry leaves. She leaned over the rim, braid swinging, and whispered, “One, two, three,” as white stripes crossed brown stripes and tiny seeds made her eyes hop faster than her feet.

She counted the long drips first, then the short ones, then the sneaky curls hiding under leafy caps. The bowl seemed to grow louder as she waited: tap of a fallen candy heart, rustle of two mint leaves, soft plop of icing settling over a strawberry’s side. Vesper’s tongue wanted to hurry. Her finger stayed still. “Not yet,” she told it, and began again from the nearest heart.

Then the surprise came. Each time she counted a drip correctly, a little heart sprinkle slid into place beside it, as if the bowl had been keeping score all along. By the final drip, the hearts made a trail around the rim, bright as tiny lanterns. Vesper chose the smallest strawberry and tasted patience: cool fruit, sweet shell, thunder-fast joy. If you peek at the bowl, can you find the last heart that helped her finish counting every chocolate drip?
