Every night, Vanna polished the moon-salon’s dangling charms until they clicked like teacups and smelled faintly of brass. She had set herself a private challenge: steal one pinprick of sunrise from the locked gold cabinet and tuck it under her collar before the clouds noticed. Until one night, the cabinet sneezed open.
Because of that, Vanna caught not one spark but a warm, wriggling mouthful of dawn. Because of that, the crescent combs blushed, the star chains hummed, and every cloud in the dressing room began wearing a ridiculous orange mustache. “Oh, hush,” Vanna whispered, though her paws shook against the velvet floor.
Finally, she climbed the tallest chain, tail looped around a silver moon, and breathed the sunrise back through the round ceiling charm. The room cooled to blue; only the tiniest rose glow stayed beneath her collar, exactly where she had meant to tuck one pinprick of sunrise.
