Every evening, Juno traced the icing paths across the winter pantry tin, counting candy-cane bends and star-cookie points by the smell of ginger and peppermint. She wanted to finish the solstice pattern before the house grew quiet, so she worked alone, nose dusted with sugar, pencil tapping tap-tap-tap.
Until one day, a crumb-sized comet slid from a cracked cinnamon swirl and blinked silver at her. “I’m full of wishes,” it whispered, “but too small to shine by myself.” Because of that, Juno followed its cool glow past tree cookies, bells, holly leaves, and a reindeer with antler shadows. Because of THAT, each cookie she touched began to hold a bit of light, not enough alone, but dazzling together.
Finally, Juno opened the tin lid wide and called the pantry mice, the sleepy spoon, and even the shy sugar moth to see. The comet rose like a sprinkle and the whole tin glittered back. If you hunt through the cookie crowd, can you find where Juno’s joy first went tap-tap-tap?
