🎨 How to color it

Color Santa’s suit deep cranberry red, his armchair soft sage green, the stockings warm cream with red lettering, and the Christmas tree rich pine green. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny list writing, garland beads, stocking labels, and tree ornaments, then switch to broader strokes for Santa’s coat and the chair cushions. Try a golden glow around the fireplace flames so the curled list, feather pen, and Santa’s surprised eyes feel caught in a secret moment.

The story behind this coloring page

The List That Chose Home — Behind the cedar-paneled wall, Orson stirred silver ink until it smelled like cold pennies and peppermint. Read the full story →

Behind the cedar-paneled wall, Orson stirred silver ink until it smelled like cold pennies and peppermint. He wanted Santa to sign the winter rolls with it before moonrise, but the ink kept sliding off the parchment in thin, shy streams. From the hearth came pop, pop, hush, and the long list curled as if it were listening.

Santa held the list up to the firelight. “That ink is trying to say something,” he murmured. Orson frowned at the blank back of the parchment, the one place no one ever checked. There, hidden in the warm glow, tiny words appeared: Not who is good. Where each heart belongs. The list tugged toward a stocking labeled MERRY, then toward a sack of toys, then back to Santa’s hand, sure as a compass.

Orson dipped the feather again. This time the silver ink settled into names with small shining doorways beside them. Ever since, Santa’s list has not only remembered children; it knows the homes that call them close. If you spot the curled paper by the fire, you may find the first shimmer of Orson’s silver ink, smelling faintly of cold pennies and peppermint.
