🎨 How to color it

Color Santa’s suit cherry red, the penguin’s scarf in candy-cane stripes, the pine trees deep green, and the fish on the present silvery blue. Use chunky crayons or markers for the big coat, belly, and snowbanks, then switch to a sharper crayon tip for the scarf stripes and snowflake arms. For a fun twist, make the scarf stripes slowly change from red near Santa’s mitten to icy blue near the penguin’s flipper.

The story behind this coloring page

The Fish Bow’s Surprise — Across the crunchy snowfield, Zuni zipped on his belly, whisk-whisk-whisk, carrying a tiny box with a fish-shaped bow. Read the full story →

Across the crunchy snowfield, Zuni zipped on his belly, whisk-whisk-whisk, carrying a tiny box with a fish-shaped bow. He wanted to give it to Santa only when the seventh snowflake landed on his beak, because the fish bow had come from his first winter scarf. One flake tickled. Two flakes sparkled. Zuni waited, wiggling his toes in the cold blue snow.

Then Santa came tromping over the hill, bells jing-jing-jing, wearing a scarf with the same fish pattern stitched at the end. “I have been waiting for you,” Santa said. The little box was not a present to open; it was the missing scarf button Santa had saved years ago. Zuni tucked it back in place, and Santa’s hug felt warm as cocoa steam. If you peek at the snowy scene, can you spot the patient little fish bow near Zuni’s feet?
