🎨 How to color it

Give the baby angel’s robe a soft ivory, the feathered wings a pale sky blue, the curls a golden honey, and the crescent moon a buttery yellow. Use sharp colored pencils for the many feather layers and hair curls, then switch to broader strokes for the robe and open clouds. Try making the burst stars orange at the points and yellow in the centers so they look like tiny handmade lanterns.

The story behind this coloring page

Every evening, Nell folded cloud scraps into tiny points, pinched them flat with sticky little fingers, and whispered, “Pop!” before setting them on the observatory rail. She wanted to invent a game that made stars jump without help from the big angels’ silver wands. The cloud floor smelled like rain and vanilla soap, and her new wings tickled whenever she reached too far.

Until one evening, one paper-cloud star really popped. Because of that, three more bounced into the air and bonked the moon’s sleepy chin. Because of THAT, the cloud choir sneezed awake—“Ah-choo-choo-CHIME!”—and every sneeze lit another star. Nell grabbed her robe, giggled, and made a rule fast: two pinches, one puff, then clap.

At last, the stars hopped into neat places, the moon stopped wobbling, and the choir asked to play tomorrow. Nell tucked her handmade rule into her sleeve, proud as a trumpet. If you spot the brightest burst, it may be the first one she pinched and whispered, “Pop!”
