🎨 How to color it

Color the diplodocus soft sage green, the winding river clear blue, the palm fronds bright emerald, and the river rocks warm tan. Use sharp colored pencils for the many fern leaflets and palm stripes, then switch to smoother side-strokes for the dinosaur’s broad back and belly. Try a pale blue-to-lavender fade in the open sky so the dark green treetops and long tail stand out.

Past the warm stone where the herd napped, a cool smell slipped through the trees: river water, muddy and bright. Tulla stretched her long neck toward it. She only wanted one quiet drink before the little cousins woke and bumped her knees again.

The river curled away between palms and reeds, whispering shush-shush over flat rocks. Tulla stepped out, slow and careful. Prickly fern tips brushed her ankles, and one squishy mud patch swallowed her left foot with a rude glorp. When she bent to sip, something winked under the ripples. A tiny silver fish popped up and whispered, “Secret current. Follow the tickle.”

So Tulla followed. The tickle led to a bend where bubbles burst like tiny bells against her nose. She drank, and the water tasted of rain, stone, and sunshine all mixed together. The joy in her chest grew too enormous to keep. She hurried back, muddy-footed, and sprayed a sparkling mouthful high for everyone. If you spot her nose at the river, you know the secret started with one quiet drink.
