🎨 How to color it

Color the dragonfly’s body turquoise, its glassy wings pale lavender, the lily pads deep green, and the cattails warm brown. Use sharp colored pencils for the wing veins and lily pad lines, then switch to smooth side-strokes for the rippling water shapes. Try a secret shimmer by adding tiny silver or light blue highlights along the dragonfly’s wings and the rings around each lily pad.

The story behind this coloring page

Under the safest lily pad, Kivo rubbed his stiff wing joints against a damp stem and watched moon-colored ripples slide past. He wanted the cool mint-mud that gathered beyond the cattails, but the reed tunnel clicked and hissed whenever the wind combed through it. Still, the ache in his wings pinched like tiny thorns, so he lifted off, skimmed over round leaves, and entered the green dark.

A sudden voice said, “Not that way.” Kivo jerked so hard he bumped a cattail and dust tickled his nose. A small pond snail, striped like a wet pebble, clung to the reed. She needed one dewdrop from the lotus cup to loosen the mud on her door. Kivo’s wings trembled, but he carried the drop while fish shadows moved below and reed tips scratched softly overhead.

The snail opened her round door and showed him where mint-mud cooled beneath a hidden lily root. Kivo pressed it to his joints, and the pond no longer sounded like hissing—more like secrets being shared. When he flew back over the ripples, he brought a green smear of medicine and a braver buzz; if you follow the cattails with your eyes, can you guess which reed whispered first?
