🎨 How to color it

Color the greyhound in pearl gray with warm taupe shadows, the sunburst rays in antique gold, and the stepped Art Deco panels in jade green and deep teal. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow rays, chevrons, and leaf veins, then layer smooth strokes over the dog's broad body and long legs. For a polished poster effect, make the central tower glow from pale gold at the top to bronze at the base behind the greyhound's curved back.

The story behind this coloring page

At midnight, when the last train had sighed away and the station smelled of rain on stone, Ansel kept one brass ticket tucked under his collar. It was blank, except for a thin groove down the middle, and he had carried it since the night he was left beside the arrivals gate. He wanted to know which door had been meant for him. The great hall answered only with heel-click echoes and the low hum of lamps.

Then the ticket warmed. Ansel slipped between the silent ticket booths, past green-glass panels and black marble rails, until the groove in the brass began to sing against the floor: a small, bright note, like a spoon touching crystal. At the eastern wall, a bare arch waited above the locked doors. He pressed the ticket into a narrow slot no porter had ever noticed.

Lines of light sprang outward, gold and straight, filling the wall with a fan of morning before morning arrived. Ansel stood beneath it, long legs still, and knew the gate had not been missing a traveler; it had been waiting for its keeper. Ever since, every station sunburst points home to someone, and the first one still remembers rain on stone.
