🎨 How to color it

Try lavender and teal on the fairy’s patterned wings, peach for her face and arms, coral for the two big flowers, and fresh green for the scattered leaves. Use sharp colored pencils for the wing swirls and dress details, then switch to light marker fills for the larger skirt and flower petals. For a magical twist, fade the wind lines from pale blue to silver so the leaves look like they are riding a visible breeze.

Each morning above Thistleturn Hill, Vesper traced the smallest wind signature she could manage: one curl, one dip, one quiet lift. She wanted her line to pass between three falling leaves without touching them, and every morning the breeze laughed through the grass—whoosh, hush—and scattered her practice into wobbling loops.

Until one pale afternoon, the hill’s message leaves broke loose from the willow post all at once. Because of that, the beetle couriers lost their paths; because of that, the rain snails tucked away their silver bells, and the whole hill grew strangely still. Vesper held out her hand. “Just one curl,” she whispered, tasting dust and clover on the air. Her tiny wind signature slipped forward, not strong, but steady, gathering leaf after leaf into its bend.

At last the messages sailed low over the grass and settled in a neat green chain by the beetle road. The snails rang again, soft as spoons on teacups. Next time you see her reaching into those swirls, see if you can spot the three leaves that first dared Vesper’s one curl, one dip, one quiet lift.
