🎨 How to color it

Give the rabbit soft gray fur, the carrot a bright orange body with leafy green tops, the cabbages pale mint, and the shed a warm barn red. Use chunky crayons or broad marker strokes for the rabbit and wooden bed, then switch to sharper pencil points for the tiny flower petals, tomato stems, and shed boards. Try making the garden extra silly by coloring every other daisy petal yellow and pink, as if the rabbit has been “helping” with paint.

Between the wooden boards of the vegetable bed, Noodle sniffed a tickly trail in the dirt. It smelled like carrot, tomato leaves, and wet wood after watering. Hop, sniff, hop—there was a giant carrot standing up as if it had important news. Noodle hugged it with both paws. “Are you the boss of lunch?” he asked.

The carrot made a tiny snort. Then its leafy top wobbled, and out marched six spotted beetles wearing bits of cabbage leaf like hats. They had been hiding inside the carrot tunnel, practicing a parade for the daisies. Noodle laughed so hard his whiskers bounced. He carried the carrot like a trumpet while the beetles marched around the cabbages, and if you peek among the leaves, you might spot their silly hat parade still going hop, sniff, hop.
