🎨 How to color it

Give the harp a honey-gold frame, the harpist’s robe a deep ivory with teal trim, the looping music staff a pale lavender, and the curtains a rich burgundy. Use sharp colored pencils for the many strings, hair beads, carved column details, and tiny notes, saving broader marker fills for the robe and curtain panels. Try a soft glow of warm yellow around the harp strings so the lavender notes look as if they are drifting out of the sound.

The story behind this coloring page

Every evening after the last broom whispered across the opera house floor, Selka played one harp note and waited for the balcony to send it back. She had invented a game called Returning Notes: if the echo matched her, she could add another note; if it changed, she had to follow its wish. The hall smelled of dust, lemon polish, and old velvet, and usually it answered like a sleepy bird.

Until one night, the echo did not return from the balcony. It curved past her ear as a bright little phrase, then slipped under the red curtain. Because of that, Selka played the phrase again, softer, and a silver path of music rose above the seats. Because of that, the empty audience shadows seemed to lean closer, as if the whole house had been waiting for her game to find its door.

“Your turn,” Selka whispered. At last she stopped trying to win and let her fingers answer wherever the path bent. The notes circled back, warm as candlelight on her hands, and settled around the harp like a place saved just for her. Next time you see those looping notes, can you tell which one first slipped under the red curtain?
