🎨 How to color it

Color JULIAN’s gem-cut letters in sapphire blue, the laurel leaves in olive green, the scrolls in warm parchment, and the little flames in golden orange. Use sharp colored pencils for the narrow crystal facets, leaf veins, and book lines, turning the page as you fill each angled section. Try a mischievous twist by making one quill bright teal, as if it has just dipped itself in secret ink.

The story behind this coloring page

Between the prism library’s tall shelves, Julian slid a parchment tube across the floor with one finger. Scritch, hush, bump. He had invented Scroll Skittle, a game where a rolled-up map had to tap three chalk triangles without knocking over a single crystal lamp. His hands felt fizzy inside his sleeves; making a game in the very-quiet gallery seemed almost too bold.

He whispered, “Tiny roll, no trouble.” The scroll curved past the laurel stands, kissed one triangle, and wobbled toward the big brass compass. Its needle gave a polite tick-tick-tick, then swung around—not north, but toward the books. Every shelf label flipped over. Instead of numbers, they showed silly scores: OWL SECTION, 7; DUST BUNNIES, 12; JULIAN, FIRST TRY.

Julian laughed so hard he had to press both palms over his mouth. The library had not been shushing him; it had been keeping score in silence. He set the scroll back at the start, braver by exactly one fingertip, while the crystal lamps flickered like tiny cheering flames. If you spot the triangles and the compass later, don’t tell them you know—they may still be counting Julian’s scritch, hush, bump.
