Behind the soft cushion nook, Pip patted a square box and whispered, “This gift needs a giggle.” He had just invented the Giggle Gift Game: find one laugh, tuck it under the bow, and hurry back before the cake bells chimed. The room smelled like paper hats and lemon icing, but the ribbon cupboard was across the squeaky hall.
Pip tiptoed out. Squeak! A floorboard told on him. In the cupboard, a roll of ribbon bounced down and wrapped his paw, tug-tug-tug, until a pink heart balloon slipped free with a tiny fwip. Pip paid with one yellow bow loop, tied the balloon string to his wrist, and hurried back laughing so hard the present wiggled.
“Shh,” he told the box, “we brought extra.” Next time you spot Pip’s heart balloon, see if you can keep the giggle secret too.
