In the tickly backyard grass, Junie tucked a plain yellow button into her petal hat. She had sewn the hat herself from soft leaf scraps and wanted it to shine at the morning giggle parade. Plip, snip, stitch! Her pansy neighbor wiggled with laughter as Junie added two grass whiskers “for serious style.”
Then the cloud above made a tiny cough. From behind it, the real sun peeked out and whispered, “Is that my baby cousin?” Junie blinked, then held up the button proudly. The sun sent one warm ray, and the button glowed like honey on toast. Junie marched taller than a stem, with her handmade hat sparkling in the tickly backyard grass.
