🎨 How to color it

Color the gardener’s hat straw yellow, the shirt sky blue, the seedling bright green, and the tulips pink and orange. Use chunky crayons or markers for the big hat, shirt, and wooden bed, then help with lighter pencil strokes inside the many small leaves and flower petals. Try making the sun a warm golden circle and the far hills pale green so the new plant feels like the brightest thing in the garden.

Under a warm, lemony sun, Rafi carried one leafy seedling to the raised bed. The soil smelled damp and sweet, and his trowel made a happy scritch-scritch. “This row is ready!” he called, patting the crumbly dirt beside the tulips.

He dug a little hole, and out popped a beetle with shiny striped wings. It did not hurry away. It marched along the bed’s edge, tap-tap-tap, past daisies, tiny sprouts, and one wobbly leaf. Rafi followed the beetle’s path and found a perfect open spot where roots could stretch wide.

He set the seedling in, tucked soil around it, and sprinkled water until the ground went dark and cool. The beetle climbed onto a leaf like a tiny garden captain. Next time you see Rafi’s trowel near that little plant, can you find the place where the beetle showed him he belonged?
