🎨 How to color it

Give the gymnast’s leotard a cherry pink, her big hair bow a sunny yellow, the bunting flags teal and orange, and the little stars gold. Use chunky crayons or broad marker strokes for the large leotard, hair, and floor tiles, letting young colorers stay relaxed inside the bold outlines. Try making the curved stripe on her leotard sparkle with a second pink, as if it holds a secret shine.

The story behind this coloring page

The Stars Under the Mat — Under the quiet practice floor, something went tik-tik whenever Romy slid into a split. Read the full story →

Under the quiet practice floor, something went tik-tik whenever Romy slid into a split. She wanted every teammate to have a celebration ribbon, not just the tallest gymnasts, so she tucked her own bow-ribbon beside the mat before warmups. The rubber smelled dusty and sweet, and the party flags barely rustled overhead.

Then her heel nudged a loose floor square. Pop! A tiny pocket opened where nobody had ever looked. Inside were five folded star stickers, silver as moon crumbs. Romy pressed them onto the plain ribbons and whispered, “For everyone.”

When the class came in, the ribbons twinkled with every split. Ever since, gymnasts add stars after practice gifts left in secret. If you spot the little stars around Romy, shh—maybe they heard that first tik-tik too.
