🎨 How to color it

Color the smiling number 9 in lavender, the puffy cloud in pale blue, and the crescent moons in buttery yellow with silver stars. Use fine-tip markers or sharp colored pencils for the small stars and dots, then fill the big number and cloud with smooth, even strokes. Try shading the center hole of the 9 a little darker purple so it feels like a secret moon-window.

Above the sky harbor, where clouds smelled like cool rain and sugar, Vera chalked nine tiny circles on her drifting cloud. “Hop the moons, tap the stars, land soft!” she called, bouncing from puff to puff while crescent lanterns swung overhead. Her new game made the cloud bob like a boat, and every bounce sent little silver dots skittering through the dark.

Soon the small starlets woke and blinked around her. They tried Vera’s moon-hop trail, but their points were still drowsy, and they kept missing the best springy spots. Vera laughed, zipped ahead, and quietly moved her own turn markers to the fluffiest places, leaving the easier hops for them. Nobody clapped; the moons only hummed.

Then the surprise came: the “dots” were not dots at all, but sky seeds listening for kind jumps. Wherever Vera had given away a perfect landing, a new crescent lantern curled open. By midnight, nine moons made a bright loop around the cloud. Next time you spot Vera’s cloud, count the crescents and wonder which soft landing she saved for someone else.
