Under the cool rainbow arches of Crystal Meadow, Vexa trotted click-clack, click-clack along the bendy path. She had set herself a tiny dare: at moonrise, she would lift her rocket horn and beep hello to the crescent moon. Not a loud parade beep. Just one polite peep. The crystals smelled like rain on clean stone, and the daisies bobbed as if they were waiting for the joke.
Vexa stopped between two tall crystal points. Her knees gave a small sproing. “Peep,” she whispered. The sound bounced off the crystals—peep, peep, peep!—then came back wearing a squeaky wiggle. Vexa snorted steam from her nose. She tried again, braver. “Beep!”
This time, the moon answered with a silver blink. Or so Vexa thought, until the stars in her mane began blinking back in perfect time. The whole meadow had been listening through her shiny curls! Vexa laughed so hard her tail lights twinkled. Next time you spot her beneath those rainbow arches, check the tiny stars first; they may be practicing their peep-peep-peep.
