🎨 How to color it

Color the big L in deep navy, the slim I in ruby red, the lamp base in brushed gold, and the starry shade in soft sky blue. Use sharp colored pencils for the tiny stars, pull-chain bead, and narrow rings on the lamp stem so the small details stay crisp. Try fading the lampshade from pale blue at the top to lavender at the bottom, then make each star a different warm yellow.

The story behind this coloring page

Under the letter-room table, Silas kept a tin of glue, two blue pencils, and exactly one strip of silver paper. He needed one proud, straight L for the alphabet display before the bell rang, but his cardboard kept flopping at the corner. The room smelled like paste and pencil shavings. Then the old lamp above his workbench blinked—tink, tink—and went dark.

Here is the part you should not tell everyone: Silas took the silver strip and climbed the narrow stairs to the map loft, where dust tickled his nose and the floorboards whispered. He meant to borrow a bulb. Instead, behind the lamp’s starry shade, he found a paper pattern taped inside: fold down, fold across, press twice. He paid for the secret with sticky fingers and a torn sleeve, but he copied every crease.

Back at his table, Silas folded a new L that stood on its own. “Stay,” he whispered, and it did. When the lamp flickered on, the stars threw tiny points across his silver corner, like they were signing their approval. If you spot the pull chain beside the shade, keep the secret: that little lamp still knows how to make one proud, straight L.
